After deciding to pursue his career as a footballer, he joined Everton youth team at the age of 9 and made his professional debut for the club in 2002. Rooney then joined Manchester United football club in 2004 and has stayed with the club since then, winning Premier League five times, League Cup twice, UEFA Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup once with the team. He currently serves as captain for both Manchester United and England national team.
